Host the Film

Feel free to read our Screening Guide.
If you are interested in hosting our film please fill out the License Agreement below.

Thank you for your interest in hosting a viewing of the Music for the Soul documentary Innocent Child: Healing for Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse.

Caring organizations like yours can lead the way in sharing truth that will set survivors free, reminding them that the abuse was not their fault and that freedom and wholeness are possible.

This film is not only for survivors. With 1 out 4 women and 1 out of 6 men being survivors, everyone in your life - whether they realize it or not - knows someone who has experienced sexual abuse.

Thank you for helping to start a safe, gentle and healing discussion.

Before the screening:

Due to the sensitive nature of Innocent Child, we strongly encourage you to take the following steps when planning a screening at your church to help create a safe and supportive environment for all attendees:

1. As people arrive have some instrumental hymns or worship music playing softly. We suggest having the lights dimmed in the room to encourage an atmosphere of warmth. bright.

2. Have a sign in sheet so that you have the ability to follow up with attendees to ask about their experience and see if they need further help or support.

3. Plan on having an emcee, preferably a trusted member of your church staff, welcome everyone.

Opening remarks should reflect the intention that the screening room is to be a safe space. Make sure audience members know that if they become uncomfortable at any time during the presentation, they should feel free to leave the room. No one should feel as if they are required to stay in the space.

Let the audience know that the film is 63 minutes in length.

4. Have plenty of tissues on hand.

5. Arrange to have qualified professional counselors at the event. Have them identified by wearing a carnation or some other distinguishing feature. This will help make them easily recognizable to attendees if help is needed. Make the presence of the counselors known during your opening remarks.

Let the audience know the counselors will be available immediately after the screening in the event that an attendee needs to talk. If possible, have some rooms set aside nearby whereprivate conversations can take place.

6. Arrange to have a dedicated prayer team for the screening. These individuals should pray before the film and remain outside to pray during the film in support of the survivors who may be in attendance. Let the audience know that the prayer team individuals will be available after the film to pray with any persons who would like prayer.

7. Remind everyone to silence their cell phones.

8. Offer a brief prayer before beginning the film.

After the screening:

1. Plan to provide a list of local counseling resources available to attendees for follow-up care and support. This can be either a printed list or a list accessible by QR code in the evening’s program. You might also consider posting this on the church website.

2. Immediately following the viewing of the film, you may wish to have a Question and Answer period or a panel discussion. Be sure to let audience members know in advance that there is no pressure to share.

We recommend a pastor from your church be present. This sends the message that the church cares about the survivors within the congregation’s membership. We also recommend having a Christian therapist with experience in counseling sexual abuse survivors. The people leading the discussion should have some education or experience in trauma informed language.

You may also feel that it is better to let your audience members sit quietly and reflect on what they have just seen. Either way, plan to have therapists and pastors on hand to meet any emotional needs that arise.

In the following weeks:

You may wish to make a follow up group study available to screening attendees and/or your congregation.
